slick ban: and Thorin would feel guilt over what he’d basically coerced Fili into, but also so much pride over having a new Durin

jujubeee mod: They’d see the sadness

slick ban: but anytime he looked at the kid he’d remember what he made Fili do

slick ban: and to go and see Kili again, after all that time, would be like twisting the knife

jujubeee mod: and tried to ease his sadness

slick ban: yeah, she probably would have tried her best to be what he wanted, and it wouldn’t have been her fault that he was still unhappy

slick ban: because Kili never had to get married, and never sort-of fell for his wife anyway, and never had a kid

slick ban: so there would be all these experiences he couldn’t understand

jujubeee mod: and it probably would have festered a bit

jujubeee mod: where, when he left he knew why he was doing it

slick ban: and Kili would probably be angry at Thorin too, even if he didn’t necessarily want to

jujubeee mod: but the reason got lost and a bit twisted over time

jujubeee mod: and of course

jujubeee mod: even tho he didnt want Fili to follow

jujubeee mod: part of him did

jujubeee mod: so theres a bitterness

slick ban: he would. but he’d also be conflicted with memories of happier times, and so maybe sometimes he’d find himself looking for approval and then immediately being annoyed at his own reaction

slick ban: he’d be trying to feel like he doesn’t have to prove himself anymore
